Viewing Usage Records on iPhone and iPad
If you want to check the usage records of your iPhone or iPad for the past few months, KeyMob makes it easy. You can view detailed data about device usage, including app start and stop times, background app running times, and which hardware was used after launching an app (e.g., camera, microphone, speaker, Bluetooth, etc.).
Example: Analyzing WeChat Usage
- Open KeyMob and select Usage Records in the left navigation menu.
- Choose App Usage Records and search for “WeChat.”
- You will see something like the following image:
General Analysis
- Total Power Consumption: 74,396 mA, indicating heavy usage of WeChat.
- Video Decoder: The record shows video decoding, indicating that I viewed videos on WeChat.
- Speaker: The data indicates that I used the speaker during my session.
- Wi-Fi: The record shows that I connected to Wi-Fi while using WeChat.
- Bluetooth: Data suggests that I performed operations via Bluetooth on WeChat.
- Front Camera: The front camera was used, likely for taking pictures or video calls via WeChat.
- Additional indicators show various hardware functions used while interacting with WeChat.
Detailed Analysis
Clicking on Details reveals a more in-depth breakdown:
- By selecting the bar for 2025-1-12, you can see the energy consumption for that day and how the usage of hardware components changed over time.
- Between 10 AM and 12 PM, I used WeChat frequently. During this period:
- Display Dynamic (Screen) and Baseband (BB) power consumption were high, indicating active, high-bandwidth usage with the screen on, likely browsing or downloading.
- AudioSpeaker and Camera data were low, indicating that I wasn’t using video calls.
- Wi-Fi consumption was low, suggesting mobile data was being used.
These indicators represent the power consumption of various hardware modules in an iPhone. Here’s a breakdown of the key metrics:
- Total (Black): Total power consumption, showing the sum of all hardware module consumption.
- APSOCBaseIOReport (Red): Likely power usage related to the A-series SoC (System on Chip) base I/O operations.
- AudioCodec (Blue): Power used by the audio codec for processing and converting audio signals.
- AudioSpeaker (Green): Power consumption by the speaker when audio is played.
- BackCamera (Yellow): Power consumption by the rear camera, including sensor and image processing.
- BB (Orange): Power used by the baseband chip for cellular network communication.
- Bluetooth (Pink): Power consumption by the Bluetooth module.
- CPU (Purple): Power used by the central processor.
- DisplayDynamic (Brown): Power used by the display, possibly related to screen refresh rate or adaptive brightness adjustments.
- DRAM (Blue): Power used by the dynamic RAM (memory).
- FrontCamera (Red): Power consumption by the front camera.
- GPS (Green): Power used by the GPS module.
- GPU (Brown): Power consumption by the graphics processing unit.
- ISP (Yellow): Power used by the image signal processor for camera data processing.
- NetworkWake (Light Blue): Power used by network wake functions, possibly related to Wi-Fi or cellular networks.
- RestOfSOC (Orange): Power used by other parts of the SoC, like I/O control or sensor management.
- SOCDisplay (Light Green): Power consumption by the display control unit of the SoC.
- Torch (Dark Red): Power used by the flashlight.
- VDEC (Pink): Power consumed by the video decoder during video playback.
- VENC (Light Blue): Power used by the video encoder for tasks like video recording.
- WiFi-Data (Orange): Power used for Wi-Fi data communication.
By analyzing these indicators, you can optimize battery usage and extend battery life. If you notice unusually high power consumption in a specific area, you can take measures like reducing screen brightness, limiting background activity, or adjusting network settings to optimize performance.
Background Time Analysis
Switching to background time analysis, you can choose WeChat and view its detailed usage in the background.
- Analyzing the graph, you can see that around 10 AM, background audio playback occurred, which likely indicates a voice call happening at that time.
